Lovebeats music

So here it is at last - the lovebeats blog. We'll be posting stuff here whenever we get inspiration, time and/or a long lunch.

Lovebeats - just got off the bus (probably)

The Singing Hens photoshoot

First off we have to send our love and big thank yous to Julia, Sandy and Roz for agreeing to be the laughing, jovial and completely convincing bride and hens for our 'singing hens' photoshoot last week.

The singing hens concept came from Sally who helped a bride-to-be learn an Aretha Franklin tune to sing as a gift to her husband at their wedding (we'll let you guess the song! - see our list below of suggestions of what to and not sing at weddings!). He was overwhelmed and very moved by her performance - and most of the guests joined in the chorus - making it seem even more spontaneous.

But we reckon spontaneity is best when it's planned - which is where the singing hens idea comes in. You've seen 'My Best Friends Wedding' right? Well actually Sally hasn't, but we'll sort that out at some point. The idea is basically that Sally tutors the hens through a performance  - the theory being that the performance will be way better if you've rehearsed the song first.

So, where were we? Julia, Roz and Sandy came over - it was the last decent bit of sunshine we've had this summer - which here in the Uk seems to have turned to its usual watery miserableness (thanks a lot, global warming....). We were filming outside with a plain backdrop. Of course the wind kept blowing this over and we waited for the sun which was too bright so we then tried the shadows which was better because no one was having to squint. Obviously for the purposes of authenticity, we needed the champagne glasses to be filled with a credible bubbly liquid. In movies and theatre, this is usually coloured water, but as our models are true professionals, we felt that only actual alcohol would create the necessary mood and ambience.

As the shoot wore on, it would be true to say that just a little more than one bottle was consumed. By the time we got to ordering the curry, we were on to the sixth (not including the wine box that Rob finished off - but there probably wasn't too much in that....)

What is it about Indian food that makes wine taste so good? Also eating outside is nice - as long as you don't mind being simultaneously consumed by mozzies, feeding off the murgh as a kind of secondary foodie-type experience. Looking at the weather cooling off right now I'm wondering if we'll be eating outside again this year?

everyone was perfectly in tune

We tried some shots with everyone singing but the smiling ones worked better.

I'm not quite sure if the sparkly wine was the same sparkly wine as the previous shot.

Please tell us if you like the pics and we'll post a few more.
